Abstract

There is a direct association between oral health & food choices. Poor oral health like periodontal diseases, oral cancer effect gums (which provide support) it directly impacts food choices & nutritional status. Contrary, health status effect progression & growth of oral disease. This cyclic interaction is lethal for older adults because they are at increased risk of poor nutritional status & oral hygiene. Simple oral health assessment was carried out to check the truth.  There is strong association of decreasing number of teeth with altered food choices and differences in hematological status. Change in food choices decrease masticatory efficiency and individuals are prone to life threatening conditions. Poor oral health decrease appetite and nutritional status which in turn reduce immune response. It is suggested to carry out oral health assessment which in turn improve oral hygiene and food selection criteria.
