Abstract

COVID-19, which is Corona virus Disease 2019, came to us as a public health emergency;
hence, the required response is an immediate one and calls for a revolution. This paper
highlights the position of pharmacy in meeting the needs of man in this emergency. Even
though pharmacy has undergone series of changes in the form of evolution, the response to
COVID-19 is a Pharmaceutical Revolution. The required interventions in COVID-19, from
prevention to treatment, are majorly pharmaceutical; and these have been provided through
pharmaceutical public health, clinical pharmacy, pharmaceutical research and development,
manufacturing, and herbal formulations. Many drug products, which include Dexametasone,
Remdesivir, Azithromycin, Chloroquine, and Hydroxychloroquine, are being used in the
treatment of the disease; and the race for vaccines production is unprecedented as there
are over 200 candidate vaccines in various development stages within a period of eight
months. The response from the Pharma Sector to COVID-19 to Support Health Care
Heroes is indeed a Pharmaceutical Revolution.
