NATIONAL NUTRITIONAL ACTIVITIES: ADVANTAGES AND LIMITATIONS

Abstract

Malnutrition is one of the serious and life-threatening issue in Pakistan. Many governmental and non-governmental organizations have been initiated Nutritional programs during the past few years. These programs focus on directly supplying nutrients, fortified products (Calcium, Vitamin A, Zinc, Vitamin B complex, Iron, Folic Acid) to the targeted population, some of the programs also focus on raising Nutritional awareness among subjects. Root of the problem i.e Illiteracy, Poverty, poor socioeconomic status, inflation, inequitable distribution of food sources among family members especially females, these problems are still being neglected. When it comes to Nutrition these programs still are not able to take control of the situation in Pakistan, and our country is still far behind than other countries. This article reviews the current Nutritional programs in Pakistan, their limitations, advantages, and further suggestions for future.
